Omarchy Deck, the iPhone and iPad app.

Help for the Omarchy Deck app on iPhone and iPad. The app opens the dashboard of a Deck server you choose. It is a Kodros app.

  • Updated: .
  • The notes below call out the premium update, and where build 9 differs.
  • Free
  • Optional Pro

Start here

The app opens the dashboard of your own Deck server. Add its HTTPS address and your access token, or try the demo first. If those steps don't get you in, email tanner@meshvault.ai.

Getting started

  1. Open the app. If you want to look around first, tap Try the demo. The demo uses invented sample data and doesn't need a server. In the premium demo, tap Connect, then Connect your deck, to leave the sample screens.

  2. Under Connect your deck, enter your server's HTTPS address, for example deck.example.com:10443, then tap Connect. A typed address with no scheme is read as HTTPS. Addresses that start with http:// are rejected.

  3. Enter your access token and tap Open deck. The app uses the token once to sign in.

  4. The dashboard opens full screen, in either orientation. Pull down, or double tap with two fingers, to reload.

The app doesn't include a server. Whoever runs your server controls the dashboard, whether it's up, and who can open it. If that server is on a private network, the phone has to be able to reach it. A VPN is one way to do that.

Build 9: the first screen is Your server. Tap Try the demo to preview sample data, and Exit demo to return. Pro is not offered inside that earlier demo. Select a server address with Connect, then open Decks using the server icon at the top right.

Free and Pro

  • Free. One saved server. When exactly one saved server remains, enter a new address in Decks, turn on Replace my current deck, then tap Replace deck. Replacing forgets the old address and clears that server's local session, web data and cached images.
  • Pro. Omarchy Deck Pro is a one-time App Store purchase. It adds multiple saved servers and switching between them. In the premium update, Pro appears on first run, in Decks, and in the demo's Connect sheet. You don't need a real server to see these purchase options. Tap Unlock Pro. The App Store supplies the price. There is no subscription.
  • Restore purchases. Available in each premium Pro location, including first run and demo Connect. It checks your Apple Account for an earlier Pro purchase. Pending, cancelled or unverified purchases do not unlock Pro.
  • If Pro is revoked. Your other saved servers lock, and their addresses and sessions are kept. The current server keeps working in the free version. To replace it, restore Pro or remove the other saved decks until only one remains. Removing a deck forgets its address and clears its local session, web data and cached images; it does not delete data held by the server.

If the App Store price is unavailable, tap Check again when that control appears. Restore purchases remains available while the price loads. Both actions need the App Store, even while viewing sample data.

Connection problems

  • Offline screen. Check that the server is running and that your phone is on the right network or VPN, then tap Retry. Open Details for the underlying error. When recovery checks find the server again, a Deck is back banner offers Reconnect. Returning to the app while offline also retries automatically.
  • Sign in again. On the offline screen, tap Sign in again and confirm Sign in again, or choose Keep waiting to cancel. Signing out clears that deck's local web data and cached images but keeps its address. Enter a current Deck token and tap Open deck. Your server's operator can issue a token.
  • Certificate or HTTPS errors. The app only opens HTTPS servers and shows TLS errors instead of hiding them. Ask your server's operator to check the server's certificate.
  • Local network. If iOS asked for local network access and you said no, turn it on in Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network.

Using the deck

  • Several servers. Tap Decks at the top right to manage saved servers. If the control has faded, tap the top edge to reveal it. Each HTTPS origin, including its port, has separate WebKit sign-in storage. With Pro, enter an address and tap Add deck; tap a saved row to switch. Swipe a saved row, tap Delete, then confirm Remove deck, or choose Keep deck to cancel. Removal forgets its address, web data and cached images. Other decks are unaffected.
  • Dimmed dashboard image. The premium update can show a cached 320-pixel-wide JPEG from the selected server while it loads. It is not proof that the server is online or that the displayed data is current. Signing out, removing or replacing that deck clears its images.
  • Links and images from other sites. Links that lead away from your server open in Safari. Images and embedded content hosted on other sites do not load inside the deck.
  • Empty or wrong dashboard. The dashboard is your server's page, not the app's. If it shows nothing or the wrong thing, ask your server's operator.
  • Screen. The updated app keeps the screen awake while active and restores normal auto-lock when it is no longer active.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app offers Play / Pause, Toggle Mute, and Lock Screen for the selected server. It asks you to confirm each one. Those actions are greyed out when the iPhone can't be reached, so keep the iPhone nearby with Omarchy Deck installed. They only work if your server supports them.
