Who we are
Kodros publishes Mesh. Tanner Osterkamp runs Kodros. In this policy, "Kodros", "we" and "us" mean Kodros. Questions go to tanner@kodros.ai.
Mesh is an independent app. It is not affiliated with Nous Research, Home Assistant, Tailscale or Hugging Face.
What we collect
Nothing through the app. Kodros runs no server that receives your messages, files, voice, Health data, calendar or settings. Mesh contains no analytics, advertising or crash reporting code.
If you tap Submit Feedback, your mail app opens a message to our support address with the app and iOS version filled in. We receive what you send and use it only to reply.
What goes to your assistant
Before the first message, Mesh shows a privacy notice and asks you to agree. After that, these go directly to the address you entered:
- Chats. Your messages, and any photos, files or dictated text you attach.
- Shares. Content you send from the Share sheet.
- Siri and Shortcuts. Requests you make through them.
- Briefings. Checks for new briefings, in the background if you allow it.
- Apple Health, if you turn it on. Heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, steps, active energy, exercise minutes, blood oxygen and sleep, for the types you allow. Mesh only reads Health data. It never writes it.
- Calendar plans, if you ask. Plan my day puts the titles and times of your upcoming events into a chat draft. They are sent only if you send it.
Your assistant stores your history, tools, memory and scheduled tasks. What it does with your data, including which AI providers it calls, depends on how you set it up.
Home Assistant
Home is optional. If you add your own Home Assistant, Mesh sends requests straight to the address you enter, with your token, to read and control your devices.
On-device model and voice
If you download the on-device model (Qwen) or the natural voice (Kokoro), Mesh downloads the files from Hugging Face. Hugging Face receives a normal download request, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy. Chats with the on-device model and speech recognition run on your iPhone.
What stays on your device
- Connections. Each assistant's name, address and profile names. Access keys and your Home Assistant token are kept in the iOS Keychain.
- Profile. The name, email and photo you add in Account. They are kept on this device only and not sent anywhere. The photo is excluded from backups.
- Chats. On-device chats and a cache of recent assistant messages, so history opens quickly.
- Calendar. Mesh reads upcoming events to show your next days. It never changes your calendar.
- Search. Show chats in Search is off by default. When on, chat titles and short previews are added to the search index on your iPhone.
- Settings and state. Theme, text size, alerts already shown and similar choices.
- Apple Watch. The watch shows state your iPhone sends it. It has no network connection of its own.
Local data can be included in device backups, under your device settings. Downloaded model and voice files are excluded.
Purchases
Mesh Unlock is an optional one-time purchase that opens more business routines. Apple processes the payment, refunds and restores under its own terms and privacy policy. Mesh asks the App Store for the price and for your verified purchases. We do not receive your name, Apple Account or payment details.
Permissions
Each is asked for only when you use the feature.
- Local network. To reach an assistant or Home Assistant on your network or tailnet.
- Microphone and speech recognition. For dictation and voice mode. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone.
- Camera. To take a photo to send, or to scan a pairing code.
- Add to Photos. Only when you choose Save Image.
- Calendars. To show your upcoming events.
- Health. To share the types you allow with your assistant.
- Motion. To read AirPods head movement while an approval is on screen, if you turn on nod to approve.
- Face ID. To unlock the app when you turn on the lock. Mesh learns only whether it matched.
- Notifications and background refresh. To tell you when a briefing is ready. Mesh checks your assistant itself. No push service is used.
Retention
We hold no data from Mesh, so we keep nothing, except feedback emails, which we keep as long as needed to answer you. Your assistant and Hugging Face keep what their own setups and policies say.
Your choices and deletion
Turn off Apple Health, Search or alerts in Settings at any time. Removing an assistant deletes its keys from this device. Deleting the app removes its local storage, though iOS may keep Keychain items. To delete chats held by your assistant, delete them there.
To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it, email tanner@kodros.ai. We answer by email.
Children
Mesh is for adults who run their own AI assistant and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If Mesh changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so at the top of the page.
