Who we are
Kodros publishes Shellboard. Tanner Osterkamp runs Kodros. In this policy, "Kodros", "we" and "us" mean Kodros. Questions go to tanner@kodros.ai.
What we collect
Nothing. Neither the app nor the keyboard makes network requests, and neither contains analytics, advertising or crash reporting code.
What stays on your device
- Keyboard settings. Theme, appearance, arrow and return key behavior, rows, sounds, haptics and similar choices, kept in the keyboard's own storage.
- Suggestion tap counts. When you tap a suggestion, the keyboard counts it so common snippets rank higher. It stores the snippet and a count, kept in the keyboard's own storage.
- Shared settings. With Allow Full Access on, the app and keyboard share your theme choice and whether the keyboard last saw Full Access and Homelab Dictate. These sit in a keychain group only Shellboard can read.
- What you type. Suggestions read the current line in memory to rank snippets. That text is not stored and not sent.
Allow Full Access
Full Access is optional. iOS requires it before a keyboard can use haptics or read the shared keychain group. With it on, Shellboard syncs your theme from the app and can show the dictate key. Shellboard still makes no network requests.
The dictate key and Homelab Dictate
If you also install Homelab Dictate, the dictate key opens it and reads the finished transcript it leaves in its shared keychain group. Shellboard never uses the microphone. Homelab Dictate handles your voice under its own policy.
Permissions
Shellboard asks for no permissions. Allow Full Access is an iOS keyboard setting, described above.
Retention
We hold no data from Shellboard, so we keep nothing.
Your choices and deletion
Remove the keyboard in Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, or delete the app. Deleting the app removes its settings. iOS may keep keychain items after deletion. A device backup made earlier may still hold a copy.
To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to correct or delete it, email tanner@kodros.ai. We answer by email.
Children
Shellboard is a tool for people who use a terminal and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If Shellboard changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so at the top of the page.
