# Kodros

> Kodros is the app for the AI assistant you run. Chat from iPhone, Windows or Linux, connect the accounts your assistant may read, and approve every outside action before it happens. The iPhone beta and the desktop installers are free to download. On recent iPhones it can also run a model on the phone. Kodros also sets up a server you own, pairs Hermes Desktop and the app to it, and keeps a backup that we have tested.

## The Kodros app

Kodros runs on iPhone, Windows and Linux, with an early Android build. Every "Download the app" button goes to https://kodros.ai/download. There is no paid app plan and no public sign-in.

- Chat, projects, scheduled jobs, approvals and connected accounts. On iPhones with 6 GB of memory or more, the app can run a private model on the phone, offline after a one-time model download (about 1 GB on 6 GB phones or 2.3 GB on 8 GB phones). Or connect an assistant you run (a Hermes gateway); the address and key you enter stay in your device's secure storage.
- iPhone: public TestFlight beta (pre-release), free, installed from the iPhone section of https://kodros.ai/download. It is not on the App Store. Android: signed beta APK on https://kodros.ai/download#android, not on Google Play. Windows installer, AppImage and .deb (version 1.3.0) are published at https://kodros.ai/download#desktop, each with a SHA-256 checksum. There is no Mac app.

## Own your data

## The three parts

1. **Your server.** A computer that stays on and holds your shared files and records. You own it. It sits in your office or home. Backups sit behind it.
2. **Hermes Desktop.** The program you use on your computer to give the server work. It is open source software (MIT license) from Nous Research. Kodros installs it, pins the version and pairs it. 3. **The Kodros iPhone app.** For quick questions and approvals. It is a free public TestFlight beta (pre-release) with no in-app purchase, linked from https://kodros.ai/download. It is not on the App Store. There is no Mac app.

The server comes before the AI. One approved job at a time. Connectors (links from your own accounts, such as email or a calendar) come later, one at a time, read-only first.

- Day 1: room, power, network and the list of data. Day 2: server software and Hermes Desktop installed, versions pinned. Day 3: files copied in (originals stay where they are) and backups set up. Day 4: restore test with you watching. Day 5: devices paired and the first approved job tried.
- It ends with a handover record: what was installed, who owns each account and where the backup lives. Acceptance is signed only after the restore test passes.
- Exit promise: you keep the hardware, files and memory.

## Scope

- Kodros offers installation, appliances, Pro, monthly support, skills, gigs and custom work at the prices locked by Tanner on 2026-10-17. Dated supplier hardware prices in comparisons are separate from Kodros appliance prices. It does not sell a hosted cloud desktop.
- Hermes Desktop is made by Nous Research, not by Kodros.
- AI output can be wrong. Approvals lower risk. They do not remove it. Kodros makes no promise of security, compliance, savings, speed or accuracy.
- For now Kodros does not take healthcare, legal or financial-advice clients.

## Where data goes

Local AI runs on your server. A job may go outside for four stated reasons only: the local model cannot do it well enough, is too busy, is down, or a named person says so. The client chooses which reasons are allowed and can allow none. A remote model processes prompts with its provider. Data can leave when the client allows it.

- **How does backup work?** A backup counts only after a restore test. We run the first one before acceptance, and you watch it.
